Reeds

Carl Maraghi completed his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Music Performance at Concordia University in Montreal, Canada with “Great Distinction”. Along with performing professionally in different jazz ensembles in the city and at the world-renowned Montreal International Jazz Festival, he appeared regularly as a musician on several radio and television shows.

Carl Maraghi recently received his Artist Diploma from the prestigious Juilliard School in New York City where he studied and performed with the program’s musical director Victor Goines, as well as with many great jazz artists such as David Berger, Joe Temperley, Joe Lovano, Wycliffe Gordon, Jimmy Heath and Wynton Marsalis. He performed with Mr. Marsalis at a Jazz at Lincoln Center event in New York City. He was part of The Juilliard Jazz Sextet, the first jazz group ever to be invited to the Festival of Two Worlds in Spoleto, Italy. He was also part of the Henry Mancini Institute program in Los Angeles, California, where he performed with saxophone great Chris Potter, and trumpet icon Doc Severinsen (bandleader of The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson band for 30 years). Following their meeting, Mr. Severinsen employed Carl Maraghi in his own jazz orchestra. He was a member of late singer/pianist and American legend Bobby Short’s Nonet under the direction of Loren Schoenberg and performs and tours regularly with David Berger’s Sultans Of Swing. Carl Maraghi also played for the President of the United States at The White House, in Washington D.C. with the Harlem Jazz Museum All-Star Jazz Orchestra. He leads and composes for many different projects including film scores, his own quintet and the Carl Maraghi Sax Ensemble.
